Executive Producer
Film Series
When I was the Marketing Manager at WinShape Teams, I had the honor of being the Executive Producer for two documentaries produced in our film series project. The series was titled “Teams Made Well,” and we were on a journey of going behind the scenes to discover what makes high-performing teams so successful.
Why a film series?
I remember very clearly the day this idea came into existence. I was sitting in the upstairs loft of Story First Creative Agency in Atlanta, located right on the belt line. We were trying to solve the problem of brand awareness by reaching audiences that had never heard of our brand. Video was the method for pioneering into new markets, and we knew storytelling was going to be key. (Because stories are captivating, emotional, moving.)
So, we thought, why not follow teams around the world that practice what we preach at WinShape Teams? Let’s share the stories of high-performing teams that we’ve never worked with. What started as an idea for making 10-12 minute episodes turned into making feature films, because we found that these teams were worth spending a little extra time and money on.
Their stories were quite compelling…
Episode 01: For The Team
In the first episode, we followed a world championship adventure racing team from New Zealand as they competed in the 2018 World Championships on Reunion Island. My role was to help tell the story, review each cut in full and give helpful feedback for shaping the story into something that was clear, compelling, and ultimately valuable to our audience. I also created smaller pieces of content to pair with the documentary to add value to those who had watched, but also to reach a wider audience. Watch For The Team on YouTube, learn more about this project, and take a look at the Virtual Development Experience for Teams if you want to dig deeper for your own team.
This film was selected for two film festivals (AFIN Festival in Australia and RIFF Festival in Rome, GA) and won a Telly Award!
Episode 02: Chasing Faster
In the second episode, I played a more in-depth role in production and project management. We followed the Joe Gibbs Racing pit crews through much of the 2022 NASCAR season to see how they innovate, adapt to changes in the sport, and build chemistry in such a way that they are willing to put their lives at stake every week for the benefit of the team. When we started the project, I knew nothing about NASCAR, and now I am a huge fan. This is a fascinating sport! Watch Chasing Faster on YouTube.

The Results
The objective for this project was to reach new audiences and increase brand awareness. Since releasing the first film on YouTube and Amazon Prime in 2019, our reach grew by at least 135% and we have been the #1 ranking in Google search results for adventure racing and Team Avaya steadily for three years. Chasing Faster was released in January 2024 and took off on YouTube. The NASCAR fan base is massive and the story of the pit crew is very rarely told, so this film is hitting a loyal and exhuberant niche audience.
